Pools boss Craig Hignett is set to join Russ Green and Jeff Stelling when they set-off on their epic charity walk for Prostate Cancer on Monday morning.
And Hignett has signed-up to take part in Day One, which will also see former England midfielder Ray Wilkins join the walkers on the road to Marske United, via Middlesbrough and Redcar Athletic.
Donations to the Men United March have already blasted well past the £100,000 mark and Hignett says he is delighted to be doing his bit for the cause.
“I did Kilimanjaro with Jeff a couple of years ago and he’s a great fella," he told Pools PlayerHD.
“What him and Russ are doing for Prostate Cancer UK is amazing; just seeing Russ out walking when we’re at away games is incredible.
“He did twenty miles the other day before we played Newport and I know he had a good walk before the Barnet game too because he tried to walk to the ground and he got lost!
“He’s taking it really seriously though and he’s putting the miles in so it’s only right that I go with them on Monday to show my support for him and Jeff.”
While stopping short of saying he’s looking forward to the challenge of completing Monday's near-24 mile route, Hignett says he's comforted by the fact he only has to do Day One.
“It’s only walking isn’t it? That’s what I keep telling myself,” he laughed.
“How they will be feeling six or seven days in I don’t know. I wouldn’t want to be Russ – and I wouldn’t want to be Russ’s trainers more importantly!”
