Hignett Excited By Return To The Vic

24 March 2016

Craig Hignett is looking forward to a return to home soil on Good Friday and says Pools will be approaching their game with AFC Wimbledon full of confidence.

The Pools boss has overseen a four-game unbeaten run which has put nine points between themselves and the League Two danger zone.

Two useful draws from back-to-back long-distance trips to Newport County and Crawley Town have boosted spirits further and now Hignett wants the players to build on that back at The Vic.

“I can’t wait – it’s a home game with no travelling, which is perfect for us," he told Pools PlayerHD.

“I think the players are looking forward to playing at The Vic again – we had a really good win last time out and scored three goals so I think we can approach the game with confidence.

“Wimbledon aren’t on a great run but they’re a good side on their day so we need to make sure we are on our game, doing what we’ve done in recent weeks and we’re prepared properly.

“The fans have got a massive part to play again – they’ve got right behind the team and I think they can see what we’re trying to do.

“We’ve looked good defensively now as well which is pleasing, so if we can put all those things together then hopefully Friday will be another good day.”
