Draw Was The Least We Deserved

19 March 2016

Craig Hignett praised his side’s determination and backed them to keep on getting better after they brought home a point from Saturday’s trip to Crawley Town.

The Pools boss was happy with the commitment the players showed as they kept a second successive clean sheet to extend their unbeaten run to four games.

Now he wants them to use that level of performance as a yard stick for the rest of the campaign as they look to move further away from base of the League Two table.

“I think we showed in the second half what a good side we are,” Hignett told Pools PlayerHD.

“We’re a little disappointed that we didn’t create a bit more and maybe get a goal but, saying that, they put us under pressure in the last ten minutes and we had to dig in.

“They are a big, physical side who put the ball in the box and ask you questions but I have got to be pleased with the side again; another clean sheet and another good defensive display when we needed it to be.

“The lads deserved the bit of luck we got right at the end with their chance and maybe our luck is changing but we certainly deserved the point.

“That’s the standard we’ve set now but I still think there is more in the tank and this is a group that will only get better.”
