Back Injury Kept Bates Out Of Rovers Game

1 March 2016

Craig Hignett revealed that a back problem was the reason that Matthew Bates was unable to play against Bristol Rovers on Tuesday evening.

Bates was originally selected at centre-back for the game at The Memorial Stadium but suffered an injury in the warm-up and he was replaced in the starting line-up by Scott Harrison.

“In the warm-up Matty’s back seized up – it just locked up on him and he couldn’t move,” Hgnett explained to Pools PlayerHD after the game.

“That meant we had to play Scott which wasn’t ideal when you’ve made plans but Scott has done well in training and deserved his chance.

“We’ll see how Matty is but hopefully he will be alright for Saturday.”
