New signing Jake Orrell is looking forward to getting his time at Pools underway.
Jake Orrell became the fifth new player of the summer to sign up to be part of Craig Hignett’s squad for 2016/17.
And the young forward is excited to have agreed the deal at a Club he has a good feeling about,
“I turned down the offer from Chesterfield and wanted to see what options were available to me and I’m delighted to have joined Hartlepool United,” Orrell revealed.
“There’s a good vibe at Hartlepool, from the Chairman down, it seems like a good place to be.”
After spending his first year in professional at League One side Chesterfield, Orrell is looking to make the next step at Pools,
“I just think in your first year as a pro, you have just got to take it as a progression really and then after that you have to really try and kick on as much as you can.
“If that means being around the First Team and doing as well as I can then I will keep progressing.”
And the 18-year-old has told Pools fans not to be fooled by his size. While he may not be the tallest, he has plenty in his game to cause the opposition problems,
“If you look at the size of me, you wouldn’t think of me as being a target man as such but I like to drop deep and see what I can do from there - playing with the midfield more and trying to link with the strikers or coming in from deep. I’ll always work hard for the team.
“I’m really looking forward to getting started now.
“I’ve had a taste of professional football and I’m excited to see what the new season brings.”
