Preston Trip For Pools In The EFL Cup

22 June 2016

Pools have been drawn to play away at Preston North End in the First Round of the EFL Cup.

The draw for Round One was made by former England star Ray Wilkins at 1pm on Wednesday and was broadcast live on Facebook and Sky Sports’ website.

North End finished 11th in the Sky Bet Championship last term following their promotion in 2014/15 and former Pools loan star Jordan Hugill is still on the books at Deepdale.

Recent history favours the Lancashire outfit; they have won on the last four occasions the teams have played each other, with Pools’ last victory a 2-1 EFL Trophy win at Deepdale in January 2000.

First Round ties are due to take place on Tuesday 9th August but we’ll have full details as soon as they are confirmed by both clubs.
