Midfield star Michael Woods has committed his future to Pools by agreeing a new deal to keep him at Victoria Park.
There has been speculation since the end of last season linking the 26-year-old with a move away from Pools but boss Craig Hignett has now secured the midfielder on a fresh contract.
Woods joined the Club in the summer of 2014 following a successful trial and became a key player during his debut season until suffering a horrendous ankle injury last February.
However, the whole-hearted performer worked hard to return to fitness well ahead of schedule and he went on to make 37 appearances last term, scoring three goals.
“Michael is a terrific player and I am delighted we have managed to get him sorted,” Hignett said.
“He’s an important player for us and he is exactly the type of character you want at a football club so I think it’s great news.
“I know Michael is excited by what is happening at the Club and wants to be part of that so we’re really pleased we’ve been able to agree this longer contract.”
Woods is the latest Pools star to sign a new deal with the Club, following in the footsteps of Matthew Bates, Trevor Carson, Nicky Featherstone and Nathan Thomas.
