Nicky Deverdics became Craig Hignett’s fourth new signing of the summer this week and he has big plans for the season ahead.
And the in-form midfielder is delighted to have his contract signed so he can turn his focus to the season ahead.
“It’s been going on for a little while but now it’s done it’s time to kick on and I’m excited to get going,” the former Dover Athletic man told Pools PlayerHD.
“It’s take a little while as I’ve been speaking to different people and seeing what was going on but once I met Craig and Curtis, straight away I had a good feeling about the two of them.
“Straight away I felt welcome and felt wanted. Craig told me how he plans to play and that suited me down to the ground, everything was positive.”
With sixteen goals to his name last season and a determination to keep that run going, the midfielder offers a new option for Hignett,
“I’m a central midfielder but more attacking - that’s not to say I can’t defend but I’m an attacking, creating midfielder. That’s where I do most of my damage in the final third.
“I was happy with my figures last year, I started scoring goals regularly over the last couple of years and I’m hoping that I’m going to kick on and carry that on.
“My head is fully focused and I’m in the form of my life and while I’m at that stage I want to keep going and do the best that I can for Hartlepool.
“At Dover I’m used to winning games and being in a relatively successful side and I wanted to come here and do the same thing. If I thought the Club weren’t looking to have a really good season, I wouldn’t have been able to sign.”
