Craig Hignett and his side will be spending plenty of time on the road in 2016/17 but they’ll be doing it in real comfort.
Pools’ official travel partners Compass Royston have purchased an improved and modern coach which will transport the team around the country next season.
The 38-seat coach features Sky TV, wi-fi throughout, a rear kitchen featuring ovens, microwave, sink and ice machine and electric sockets at each table.
Kevin Procter of Compass Royston brought the coach down to The Vic this afternoon to show Chief Executive Russ Green around the Club’s new match transport.
“We’re all really impressed with the coach,” Green said.
“We have a great relationship with Compass and Kevin has always taken on board any issues we have encountered over the years and supplying us with this new coach for next season should see an improvement all-round in our away match travels.
“I’d like to thank Kevin and Compass Royston for looking after us so well and we’re looking forward to a good year ahead with another local company.”
Kevin Procter, Managing Director of Compass Royston, is looking forward to continuing the relationship between his company and Pools,
“The bus is a lot newer and more modern than the previous coach we had and is now of the standard that a lot of the Premier League teams use.
“The coach has a range of on-board facilities but it is the appeal when you see it coming towards you that has the biggest impact.
“It looks a bit different and I think it will make a real impression when the team arrive at grounds around the country.
“We’ve had a long relationship with the football club and they’ve always been very supportive.”
Mr Procter also added a special finishing touch to the coach with the purchase of a unique registration plate,
“I bought that myself. It isn’t a brand new coach but Hartlepool United have been good to us and I just thought it set it off having a number plate like that.”
