Pools Set For First Pre-Season Friendly

8 July 2016

Pools fans will get their first chance to see the Club’s new signings when Craig Hignett’s men play their opening pre-season friendly against Billingham Town on Saturday.

A 22-man squad will make the short trip to Bedford Terrace for the friendly this weekend, with the majority of Hignett’s summer recruits set to get a run out.

The Pools boss is planning to play a different eleven in each half against the Northern League Second Division ouffit as preparations move up a gear ahead of the new campaign.

That means the likes of Lewis Alessandra, Padraig Amond, Nicky Deverdics and Toto Nsiala are all likely to make their first appearances at some point in proceedings.

Hignett will run the rule over his squad at Billingham before taking them for a week-long training camp in Tenerife on Sunday to hone fitness levels prior to a further series of friendly tests.

Connor Smith will be unavailable for Saturday’s game after tweaking his ankle on the second day of pre-season but, other than that, Hignett will have a fully-fit squad to choose from.

Saturday’s friendly at Billingham Town kicks-off at 3pm, with prices just £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.

We will have the full line-ups here on the Official Website on Saturday morning, plus a full report on the game following the final whistle.
