Major Revamp Revealed By Morrisons

4 July 2016

It was an early start for Pools Chief Executive Russ Green as he took H’Angus the Monkey along to Morrisons to celebrate the Clarence Road store’s major refurbishment.

The UK supermarket giant opened their branch in Hartlepool thirteen years ago and has now invested a significant amount of money on the revamp to improve the experience for customers.

Morrisons linked-up with Pools at the start of last season’s as the Club’s official Nutrition Partner, providing players with food and drinks to help them prepare for away games.

As part of the partnership, Morrisons have also provided flag-bearers for First Team games at Victoria Park via their links with local schools and community groups.

“It’s great to work with the Club and have their support,” explained Store Manager Simon Dove.

“The store has had a full revamp and quite a big pot of money has been thrown at it so hopefully that investment can bring more people in to shop with us.

“Asda and Tesco have been here a long time but we have been successful so we must be doing something right so this latest investment is good for us and good for the town.

“We’ve updated everything – the café is now among the best around and has a good feel about it but the whole store has been improved, from polishing the floors to painting the ceilings.”

H’Angus the Monkey helped to put a smile on the faces of early-morning shoppers on Monday, posing for selfies with fans there to enjoy the benefits of the refurbishment.

“It was brilliant seeing the reactions from people when they saw H’Angus bounding up the aisles!” laughed Pools Chief Executive Russ Green.

“We have a strong community partnership with Morrisons and we’ve had some great feedback from the young people who have been flag-bearers at The Vic as part of that.

“Since the inception of our partnership we have stressed how important it is to have that link in to the community and that joint vision is at the heart of our link-up.

“It makes sense for us to have strong links with our next door neighbours and we were pleased to be there to celebrate the wonderful work done in refurbishing the store.

“We are already working on a few new ideas so we look forward to driving these forward and strengthening our link in the future.”
