Adam Jackson has revealed that he didn’t have to think twice when he was offered the opportunity to extend his loan stay at Victoria Park until the end of the season.
The 21-year-old has been on loan with Pools from Middlesbrough since the beginning of November and has impressed fans with a number of composed displays in the centre of defence.
Jackson feels like a taste of regular First Team football is helping him to develop his game and admitted that he leapt at the chance to stay with the Club for the rest of the campaign.
“I have just loved playing week in and week out though so it was a no-brainer for me in terms of extending my stay here,” he explained.
“Obviously the results haven’t gone as planned but for me personally, it’s been brilliant playing in front of crowds every week; I’ve loved it.
“I’m really keen to keep playing games; I think I have improved personally, it is hard not to when you’re playing regular football in different circumstances and in front of crowds but it’s been a massive learning curve for me.”
Now the deal is confirmed, Jackson is eyeing up a cup shock when Pools finally return to action this weekend against Derby County after bad weather has left them without a run-out since 19thDecember.
“I just wanted to get it all done and sorted,” he told us.
“I was going to say because I just want to focus on the games – but we haven’t had a great deal of them recently, have we?!
“A lot of footballers talk about how hectic it is over Christmas but I’ve come here and we’ve not had a game for three weeks which has been really weird.
“I think the lads are quite frustrated, particularly when the game on Boxing Day was postponed, because we wanted to get out there and put on a performance for the fans.
“Now we’ve got another chance this weekend against Derby – we know it’s going to be tough obviously but we’re looking forward to the challenge, that’s for sure.”
