Pools Chairman Gary Coxall has thanked supporters for their backing in 2015 and is looking forward to an exciting New Year.
As we start a brand New Year I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank every single Hartlepool United supporter for the backing they have given to the Club, to JPNG and to me personally during 2015.
I have been genuinely humbled by the warmth of the welcome from the fans and that has only made me more determined to make sure that there are successful times around the corner for everyone involved at Victoria Park.
It’s fair to say that 2015 has been a real roller-coaster for the Club and for me personally, but being given the opportunity to become Chairman here has been the obvious highlight and it’s a position I still feel privileged to hold.
Of course, the highlight of 2015 for Pools fans had to be confirmation that the Club would remain in the Football League after Ronnie Moore and Sam Collins masterminded last season’s ‘Great Escape’. Although JPNG weren’t owners at the time, we were very much invested in what was happening on the pitch and we went through every moment of drama, tension, excitement and relief with you.
I would like to thank the players for their efforts during the past twelve months; at times I think it would be fair to say that our performances have not been rewarded with the results they have deserved this season but hopefully that will change in the coming twelve months.
We’ve emerged from a frustrating spell without games over Christmas which was so disappointing; we all look forward to festive football and to have our schedule completely wiped out due to weather was hard to take for both supporters and for the staff and players.
Hopefully what that means is that we feel fresh going in to 2016 and that little break from matches will have helped re-charge the batteries to have a real go at things during what will be a busy second half of the campaign.
I want to make it clear that we continue to give our 100% backing to Ronnie Moore as he looks to ensure that results and performances improve during the coming twelve months. Our full faith remains with Ronnie and Sam, and I think it’s very important that we try to move away from the reputation of being a Club who makes multiple managerial changes.
Ronnie will be given that backing again during January; we know that he and his backroom staff have been working extremely hard to identify transfer targets that can come in and improve the squad further when the window opens.
That marks an exciting time for me and the Club generally and we’ll continue to persevere on the transfer front though we have to accept that sometimes it can be frustrating if potential deals fall through. Rest assured, we’ll be doing everything we can to do the business we want to.
As we move in to 2016 this is a time for us push on up the League Two table. Let’s not worry about the teams who are below us in the table, but instead get the job done ourselves and start putting pressure on those above us.
I would like to end by also thanking all the Academy staff, coaches, backroom staff, office staff, stewards and everybody else who works so hard for the Football Club.
Together with all Pools fans, we can achieve some great things during the next twelve months and I’m very excited to see how things develop with your fantastic support.
Thank you once again for all your backing - and Happy New Year to you all.
