Ronnie Moore has called on his players to reproduce the intensity they showed in their last away game when they make the weekend trip to face Notts County.
Pools were unlucky not to bring all three points back from Cambridge United a fortnight ago when only a last-minute goal rescued a share of the spoils for the hosts.
However, that display has given Moore and his players plenty of encouragement as they head for Meadow Lane on Saturday to try and put the skids under The Magpies’ improved form under new boss Jamie Fullarton.
“The same sort of performance we had at Cambridge would come in handy because Notts County are a decent side with some good players,” Moore told Pools PlayerHD.
“But we’re not too bad either – and we have Luke James in now who can give us a bit of a spark up there and Nathan Thomas is playing well so hopefully we can go there and take something.
“If we can take seven points from the next three games then that would be just the kind of thing we want and it would take some of the pressure of the players and the supporters.
“If we can do that, then we can really go and enjoy our football a bit more and kick-on in the games coming up.”
New signing James – who joined the club on loan from Peterborough United on Deadline Day – looks set to be handed his debut against County this weekend.
The 21-year-old left for London Road in a big money move in September 2014 but Moore can’t wait to see him back in a Pools shirt and is backing him to hit the ground running.
“It’ll be nice for Luke to get a goal after coming back,” he admitted.
“He’s gone away with a massive transfer fee which helped the Club but now he’s come back home and hopefully he can enjoy his football and get back to the level we know he can.”
