Craig Hignett has spent his first full week working at the training ground with the Pools squad this week.
With the lack of a midweek fixture something of a rarity for Pools at the moment, Hignett has made the most of this week to spend quality time on the training pitch with the players.
“We’ve had a really good week and been able to work on a lot of bits, and bed down a few more principles so we’re pleased,” Hignett told Pools PlayerHD.
“The way the lads have taken to it and applied themselves has been fantastic and the last two results could easily have been wins.”
Looking ahead to Saturday’s game against in-form Northampton Town, who have won their previous ten league fixtures, the Pools boss knows his side will face a tough test at The Vic.
But having seen the Cobblers in action this week, Hignett has prepared his side for the test ahead,
“All credit to Chris and his team – it’s an incredible run.
“I saw them on Tuesday night at York where they made a few changes and rested some players but they have really good squad and play good football.
“They are positive, get men forward, break in numbers and they’ll press – it will be a tough game we will plan well for it and we’ve seen weaknesses and areas we can exploit.
“I know the situation we’re in we have conceded too many goals and that has got to change but I am confident that once it does – and it will – we will be alright.”
