Pools linked-up with Hartlepool Virtual School for Vulnerable Pupils to organise a Christmas party at the stadium for specially-chosen children from every secondary school across the town.
The 17 pupils arrived for the event held in the Club’s Victoria Lounge which was set-up with a Christmas buffet, an Xbox to play on and presents donated for each of them to wrap up for their family or friends.
The youngsters were then given a guided tour of The Northern Gas and Power Stadium, being shown the brand new media room, home and away changing rooms, the dugouts and the press box.
Upon arrival back in to the Victoria Lounge, they were then taken by surprise as no fewer than seven Pools stars turned up to wish them Merry Christmas and deliver selection boxes and team posters.
Lewis Alessandra, Padraig Amond, Trevor Carson, Ben Dudzinski, Josh Laurent, Billy Paynter and Harly Wise all spent time posing for pictures and signing autographs for the stunned youngsters.
“I honestly think we’ve just given them the best Christmas present ever,” said a delighted Lucy Cumming, who works as the Education Officer for the Vulnerable Pupils.
“It was such a unique experience for the children and it’s left them with some treasured memories that I am sure they will keep with them forever.”
Trevor Carson was thrilled that the players could do their bit to spread some festive cheer and was pleased to have been there to see how pleased the children were by the visit.
“I’ve said before that we should do more work out in the community – and it’s particularly rewarding to do that at this time of year,” the Pools keeper told us.
“It was brilliant to see how happy the kids were to see us and hopefully that has helped give them a really good Christmas.”
It’s the second time that Pools have linked up with Hartlepool Council’s Child and Adult Services initiative after our USA Pools group donated two Season Tickets at the start of the season.
And this latest event certainly left its mark for those involved in a memorable Christmas party.
“If I was offered a million pounds or this day again I would do this day again every time,” one of the excited youngsters told us.
Another commented: “I can’t believe I met the actual players”, while one child claimed that “this has been the best day of my life.”
