Matthew Bates and Nicky Featherstone surprised guests at HUDSA’s Christmas Party on Wednesday night when they turned up to help spread some festive cheer.
The Pools stars were given a rapturous welcome from a packed house at Hartlepool Catholic Club where they spent an hour posing for pictures and signing autographs.
Thrilled Pools fans were queuing up to chat to the duo, who also donated a pair of tickets for the Boxing Day game against Blackpool as a prize in the night’s raffle.
“I couldn’t believe how many people were there but everyone seemed to be having a great time,” said Bates afterwards.
“It’s brilliant to get out and meet the supporters at events like this and it was lovely to see how much fun everyone was having celebrating Christmas.
“I only wish I had a Christmas jumper because I did feel a bit left out!” he laughed.
