Let's Show What We Can Do - Hignett

2 December 2016

Craig Hignett wants his players to put in a performance that gets noticed on Sunday as Pools prepare to continue their FA Cup campaign at Port Vale.

The Pools boss is desperate to do well in a competition he loved as a child and when he was a player but is aware that the weekend’s trip to League One outfit Vale is a tricky one.

However, Hignett is confident that his side can rediscover their touch on the road and be among the FA Cup headlines on Sunday if they play to their potential against The Valiants.

After a lacklustre showing in defeat at Wycombe Wanderers last time out, Pools have worked hard during the week as they bid to make the Third Round for the second successive season.

“Training has been good, the lads look like they’ve put last weekend behind them and we’re all looking forward to Sunday,” he told Pools PlayerHD.

“It’s a massive game for us; in the Third Round you could pull anyone out and that’s the aim for us, but first we have a very difficult game at Port Vale and we have to go there with confidence.

“If we play to the level we can then we will give anyone a game so we’ll go there with a game plan to stick to and we’ll be fired up and ready to go.

“We will go there knowing we can win the game but Port Vale will be expected to win it with their home fans behind them so let’s quieten them and then go about our business professionally.

“I have made the players aware that the FA Cup is very important to me and if they do well in this competition then people take notice so that’s the challenge for them this weekend.”
