Hartlepool United Ladies have pulled off a transfer coup by completing the signing of Newcastle United midfielder Chelsea Basnett.
The Stockton-born 21-year-old has come through the ranks with The Magpies but has now made the switch to Pools and made her debut in Sunday’s narrow FA Cup defeat to Middlesbrough.
A holding midfielder, Basnett will be a good addition to the squad as the Club’s Ladies Team look to secure a second successive promotion this season.
"Chelsea was plunged in at the deep end on Sunday but, like the rest of the girls, she was outstanding," explained boss Andy Stuart.
"We're thrilled to have signed her because she's got real quality and can add to the already very talented squad we have at the Club."
