The Club was saddened to hear news of the passing of former Pools goalkeeper Norman Rimmington at the age of 93.
Rimmington arrived at The Vic at the end of 1947 when then boss Fred Westgarth signed him from hometown club Barnsley.
He went on to help secure Pools’ status in the Football League and was a regular between the posts during the next couple of seasons.
In all, Rimmington made 131 appearances for the Club before he returned to Barnsley to fulfil a number of roles over the year, including Assistant Manager, Groundsman, Physio and Kit Man.
Hugely-respected and well-known across the world of football, ‘Rimmo’ was affectionately referred to as Mr Barnsley due to his long affiliation with the town and the club.
Our sincere condolences are with all of his family and friends at this sad time.
