Pools have been handed a major boost with the news that Carl Magnay’s rib injury is not as serious as had first been suspected.
The full-back was forced off midway through the first half of Saturday’s game against Notts County after picking up a problem battling for the ball in the run-up to Pools’ goal.
It was initially thought that Magnay had fractured a rib and would be sidelined for several weeks but x-rays carried out on Monday morning have confirmed that he has suffered only cartilage damage.
“We sent him for an x-ray for a suspected fracture but it’s turned out to be a cartilage injury which is the best possible outcome really,” explained Physio Ian Gallagher.
“Although the chest x-ray came back clear we can’t really put a time-frame on him returning to action – we will just have to wait for Carl’s symptoms to settle down before we move him back towards playing.”
