Craig Hignett has further bolstered his attacking options with the signing of Newcastle United forward Tom Heardman on a half-season loan.
The 20-year-old 6ft 4ins front man spent last week training with Pools and did enough to impress Hignett who has now confirmed a deal to bring him to the Club on loan.
Heardman has been on the books at St James’ Park since he was Under-11 and has made steady progress through the ranks to become a regular in The Magpies Under-21 side.
The Gosforth-born youngster is back to fitness after a hip injury suffered last term and is now hungry to prove himself with a first taste of senior football at The Northern Gas and Power Stadium.
“I’m really pleased that Tom is coming in to the Club,” Hignett told us.
“He’s come back to fitness in good form and has scored a few goals for Newcastle’s Reserve side this season so we want him to come here and kick-on.
“He’s a big lad who can put himself about and he’s something a little bit different to the other forwards we have in the squad at the moment.
“Both Tom and Brad who have joined on loan are really hungry to prove themselves and that’s one of the big qualities I look for in players.”
Heardman has been handed squad number 34.
