Craig Hignett was left frustrated by defeat to Portsmouth in Pools final home game of the season, insisting his side had carved out the better of the chances at Victoria Park.
Pools had numerous opportunities to score in a more open second half at The Vic but it was the visitors who found the net twice to take all the points back to the South Coast.
And while Hignett was encouraged by some of the football his side played against the promotion-chasers, he couldn’t hide his disappointment at not collecting a result.
“I think you have to be disappointed when you see the chances we created and missed,” he admitted when talking to Pools PlayerHD after the game.
"You could see Portsmouth are a good side who have little bit of extra quality where it mattered in the final third and Trevor Carson has had to make a couple of fantastic saves.
“There were chances in the game but I think we had the better ones; we counted seven in the second half and they’re the fine margins.
“Football-wise, I thought we were fine – we played some good stuff at times, but we have to be clinical and we weren’t.
“I’ve thanked the players for everything they’ve done because they deserve a lot of credit; I know we’ve lost three in a row now but what they’ve done since I’ve been at the Club is fantastic.”
