Craig Hignett was full of praise for his team after seeing them narrowly lose out to play-off chasing Carlisle United this evening.
“We didn’t deserve to lose the game,” Hignett told Pools PlayerHD after the game.
“I think the performance in the second half was fantastic from the lads.
“The goal was a bit fortunate from their point of view but that’s football, sometimes you get the breaks and sometimes you don’t but I can’t be disappointed with how the lads played tonight.
“What I’ve said to them in there is that when we get in the final third a little bit of care and decision-making that was needed was lacking tonight but their keeper has still had work to do and he’s had more than Trev (Carson) to do.”
Pools were backed by an impressive 581 Poolies at the game tonight and Hignett was pleased his side put in the performance, if not the result, the travelling supporters deserved,
“It was fantastic, the support has been brilliant again. I think we have given them a performance but unfortunately the result went the wrong way.
“That wasn’t through lack of trying or effort but sometimes you have nights where you dominate teams and don’t get what you deserve but we’ll take that on the chin and move on.”
