We take a look at the latest from both camps ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two game against York City at Victoria Park (3pm kick-off).
Nathan Thomas is set to return to contention for Pools this weekend, while boss Craig Hignett must assess the fitness of Jake Carroll ahead of York City’s visit to The Vic.
Winger Thomas sat out Tuesday evening’s trip to Notts County due to illness but is now back in training and Carroll missed out with a head injury but should be fine to face The Minstermen.
Matthew Bates is another who could be back in the picture for the fixture with York; the centre-back has been sidelined for the last two games with a calf problem but is now returning to fitness.
Billy Paynter is still nursing a hamstring problem and will be assessed but Harry Worley is still out with a knee problem so is unlikely to feature.
Former Pools star Scott Flinders will line-up against his former club for City on Saturday but boss Jackie McNamara has a number of injury doubts ahead of the journey to the north-east.
Femi Ilesanmi (hamstring), Russell Penn (knee) and Michael Coulson (groin) all missed their 1-1 draw against Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.
However, the visitors will be boosted by the return to contention of William Boyle who sat out the last game through suspension after seeing red against Leyton Orient.
