Craig Hignett has paid tribute to his players for their excellent performances during March – and then immediately challenged them to do it all over again in April.
The Pools boss looks set to be among the front-runners for League Two’s Manager of the Month award after his side tasted defeat just once during a much-improved March.
A six-game unbeaten sequence has seen Pools move up to 17th in the table and allayed fears of another tense scrap to avoid the drop but Hignett insists he isn’t ready to rest on his laurels.
“I hope April is the same as March!” he told Pools PlayerHD.
“We’ve had a great month; the lads should be really proud of themselves because we have had some really good performances and some great results but now we’re looking forward.
“From the quality I have seen since I have been at the Club I have always known we could put a run together – it might have happened a bit quicker than I expected but going six unbeaten doesn’t really surprise me.
“We’re on that good run now, we’ve kept four clean sheets in a row so how far can we take it? Let’s see if we can have another clean sheet. Let’s see we have another positive result and go unbeaten again.
“I want us to get up the table. I want to catch Crawley and then after Crawley I want to catch Barnet – let’s see how far we can go.”
