Craig Hignett has insisted that Pools will not be taking their foot off the pedal and has called for a positive response to midweek defeat when they host York City on Saturday.
Following a trio of fixtures on the road, the Pools boss is excited about the prospect of a return to home soil and is looking forward to another attacking display from his team.
They will welcome a City outfit who need to pick up points quickly if they are to survive the drop but Hignett is adamant that Pools can’t afford to have any sympathy for their visitors.
Instead he’s challenged them to keep up the momentum that has built up on the back of a run of just two defeats in ten games and carry it through the remaining three weeks of the campaign.
“After three tough away games it’s nice to get back home,” Hignett told Pools PlayerHD.
“It’s a bit of a derby game so that will add something to the game and I’m sure York will bring a few so when The Vic is packed it really does bounce – hopefully we can give our fans a performance to really get behind.
“York need to win games with the situation they’re in, and they need to win them quickly so I’m sure they’ll be all-out attack which is great for us.
“I feel like I am in a bit of a Catch 22 because we’re safe and comfortable but I still want us to keep the momentum going and I don’t want to lose games but it also gives me a chance to do different things and look at different players.
“It’s a great situation really with no pressure on us so I want the lads to go out there and express themselves and play a really attacking type of football – hopefully they can do that on Saturday.”
