Michael Duckworth has narrowly missed out on the Mitre Goal of the Year at The Football League Awards in Manchester.
The full-back was in the running for his spectacular strike at Carlisle United on the final day of last season in which he stormed forward to lash home as Pools came from three down to draw 3-3.
Duckworth’s sensational goal had made it to the final five and each guest in attendance at the Awards on Sunday evening had the chance to cast a vote.
Unfortunately for the Pools star – who was in attendance alongside boss Craig Hignett and Chief Executive Russ Green - he was beaten in the voting by a brilliant goal scored by Sheffield Wednesday’s Marco Matias.
Well done for the nomination, Michael!
