We Ground Out The Win Admits Moore

26 September 2015

Ronnie Moore conceded that his side weren’t at their best during victory at Yeovil Town but praised the players for grinding out the three points.

Brad Walker’s late goal was enough to hand Moore’s men the victory at Huish Park but the Pools boss was quick to admit that the performance was not a classic.

“We ground out the result rather than played well,” explained Moore when speaking to Pools PlayerHD afterwards.

“I think it was a scrappy, poor game really and that’s probably as bad as we’ve been as a team so far this season – and yet we win!

“The passing wasn’t there at all, we gave the ball away for fun and maybe a draw would have been a fair result but we’ll take the win, there’s no doubt about that.

“I have to praise the lads because they kept going and going and going – and in the end it was the two substitutes who combined for the winner so sometimes you get those things right too.

“I told Brad to go on and make a name for himself and I was really pleased to see him hit the net because he hasn’t had much joy recently.

“We need to get back on a roll now but that won’t be easy because we have two really tough home games coming up.”
