Pools Youth Team are in action tonight at Victoria Park as they begin their FA Youth Cup campaign with a First Round tie against Fleetwood Town (7pm kick-off).
Young players all around the country all look forward to performing in the prestigious competition and John Hewitson’s squad will be keen to make progress this evening.
Pools have started the season well and currently lie fourth in their North East Youth Alliance League, just three points behind leaders Mansfield whom they held to a 2-2 draw at the weekend.
However, this evening’s visitors Fleetwood have enjoyed a similarly successful opening to the campaign and are fifth in the North West Youth Alliance League.
Nat Skidmore remains the only player unavailable to Hewitson for the game; the young midfielder is spending time at St George’s Park this week undergoing some specialised rehabilitation on his dislocated shoulder.
Admission prices for the tie are just £5 for adults and £3 for concessions with Hewitson hoping that a good home crowd at The Vic and help roar the team through to Round Two.
“If the fans can come in their numbers to support the lads it would be brilliant.
It’s a chance for the young lads to showcase what they’re all about and a chance for the supporters to see the talent we have in our youth set-up.
We’d all love it if there was a big crowd and noisy atmosphere – it would give the boys a huge lift.”
