Mikael Mandron has spoken of his excitement after sealing a loan move to Pools from Premier League neighbours Sunderland.
Pools watched the 21-year-old forward in action for Sunderland’s Under-21s during their midweek Premier League International Cup game against Athletic Bilbao and pushed through a deal on Friday morning.
Mandron – who has previously been on loan to Shrewsbury Town and Fleetwood Town – will remain at The Vic until the New Year and says he can’t wait to show what he is capable of.
“I am really excited to come here and get some games under my belt,” he told us.
“I want to show the manager and the whole club what I can do; this move is important for me to get some games and more experience so it’s something I am looking forward to.
“I have been on loan at other clubs in the past so I know what to expect and I know what will be expected of me so it’s just really exciting to come here and get this chance.
“It’s a move which makes sense all round really with Hartlepool being only down the road from Sunderland so I want to come here and make my name known.”
The young front man goes straight in to contention to make his Pools debut in Sunday’s televised League Two game against Leyton Orient.
And he revealed that defender Scott Harrison will help him settle in quickly at The Vic, after the pair were previously team-mates at the Stadium of Light.
“I know Scott well from my days at Sunderland so I am sure he will help make me comfortable but I have already met some of the other players too and I’m sure I’ll get on with everyone.
“It’s a great opportunity to show everybody what I can do and put myself out there – and being on television on Sunday will be a great experience too.”
