Hartlepool United FC Supporters Association present Connor Smith with award.
Connor Smith has been named Youth Team Player of the Year for 2014/15.
The award, presented by Pauline McSweenie from Hartlepool United FC Supporters Association, was voted for by his fellow players and HUFC football staff.
Pools Academy Manager John Hewitson revealed Smith was a clear winner of the award,
“He was probably the player who always stood out within games as one of our top performers due to his capabilities of beating men and creating chances,” Hewitson told hartlepoolunited.co.uk.
“Because of the position he plays, he always looks positive and tries to get at people.
“He is one to watch as he is so quick and he has done so well and both Youth and Reserve Team level and in the few First Team games he has played in.”
Hewitson admitted the Smith, who has just signed a professional contract with the Club, has always shown promise,
“We had high hopes for Connor even when he came in as a Youth Team scholar. We always thought he was likely to get a professional contract and we’re delighted he has. It was a tough year for him to impress as we had a few Managers but
fortunately when Ronnie Moore put him into the First Team, he did well and got the contract.
“He has played up front so far for the First Team but when he plays out wide I think he will do really well and with his pace, talent and attitude we know he will give his all. He has a real competitive spirit, he doesn’t like getting beat!”
