Fightback Sees Fans Go Home Happy

2 May 2015

Ronnie Moore brings us his thoughts as Pools came from 3-0 down to draw at Carlisle United this afternoon.

after the game.Pools Player“It was definitely a game of two halves wasn’t it?” Moore told

“At half time we were lucky we weren’t more goals down, we just couldn’t get to grips with how they were playing.

“But I said at half time, look at all the fans here, why spoil their day?! Let’s go out, we’ve got nothing to lose, go out and get on the ball and enjoy it.

“Scott Fenwick had hurt his knee and we didn’t want to take any chances so we put Marlon Harewood on for the second half.

“And Marlon was the difference today, he’s held it up, he’s been big and strong, he’s played people in and then Michael Duckworth’s goal was a hell of goal. If that was in the Premier League, they’d never stop talking about it.

The team had an unusual preparation for the game after the team bus broke down on the way to the game, meaning the team had little time to warm-up,

“They get an excuse for the first half showing, I’ve never known anyone get changed and out so quickly, we never got here until 2.35pm.

“But in the second half, you’ve got to give them a bit of credit. They’ve shown what the season has been all about with the fightback and at least the crowd has gone home happy.”

And Moore finished with praise for the travelling army of 2224 Poolies,

“They’ve been loyal to me, they’ve been brilliant. The backing is there, if you get the team right, the following will come. It was a great day and I’m sure they’ll have a good night now. “
