Pools Youth Team lost their midweek game at Rotherham United, with the hosts running out 3-2 winners.
It was Rotherham United who took a first-half, despite a bright start from Pools and a good early chance from Dylan Armstrong.
The hosts doubled their lead just moments after their first when they countered from a Pools attack and Jonny Carr guided the ball into the back of his own net.
John Hewitson’s side continued to press and pulled a goal back before the break; Fraser Briggs played in Jordan Jewson and his cross into the area was cleared out to Nat Skidmore who finished calmly into the corner of the net.
Pools were playing against the wind in the second half but had some godod chances to equalise through Armstrong, Jewson and Jack Blackford.
It was Rotherham who hit the next goal though, when a slip at the back allowed them in to make it 3-1.
Jordan Jewson was fouled inside the penalty area in the final minute of the game and took the subsequent spot kick himself, converting to make it 3-2.
"It was a promising display from a very youthful side," Hewitson said after the game.
"We had debuts from two Under 16s in Ryan Catterick and Aiden Hart, while this was Kenton Richardson's second start and they all did well, as did the tireless Jordan Jewson.
