Pools boss Ronnie Moore tells us that he's pleased with the way his new-look squad is shaping up for 2015/16.
Hello and welcome back to my latest Blog here on the Official Website.
We’ve managed to get some more business done this afternoon with the news that Harry Worley has signed on the dotted line – and it’s great to have someone of his stature added to the squad.
He’s still young at 26 and I can just see him with Dan Jones and Scott Harrison, and with Carl Magnay in there as well we’re looking physically stronger at the back than we have been before.
In League Two it isn’t all about how pretty you can play it or pass the ball around – there are a lot of aggressive sides who are big and strong so Harry will come in and give us some more strength.
He needs to play some games now and get some consistency but I have seen enough of him to know that will come and I think he will enjoy playing his football at Hartlepool.
I think we’re bringing in the right type of player; Harry is another one who is the right age and he knows what the game is all about. He’s been at a side who play in quite a physical way but he’s also got good feet and can play when he needs to as well.
He was fit for the last two months last season but Stevenage were flying and it was difficult for him to get back in to the side but he played in their last league game and I know that by the time pre-season comes along he’ll be chomping it at the bit, I’m sure.
Michael Woods obviously knows Harry from his Chelsea days so he’s from good stock, that’s the big thing. Carl Magnay was also in that same Chelsea squad too - I’m not sure whether we can get anything else out of Jose Mourinho to help us out but you never know!
That’s four signings in for the summer now and I have to say that the backing I have had has been fantastic. The Chairman Ken Hodcroft and IOR have backed me all the way.
It’s always difficult when you’re trying to chop and change your squad but we’ve already made some decent progress with four new players through the door so I would like to thank the Chairman and the owners for their help on that front.
We’d like to try and get seven, eight or nine in if we can and the work is still going on – once any deal has been confirmed we’ll make sure we let everyone know.
Thanks to you all for your ongoing support.
