New signing Jake Carroll says he can’t wait to start working under Ronnie Moore after being sold on the idea of a switch to Victoria Park by the Pools boss.
The 23-year-old left-back became Moore’s fifth acquisition of the summer on Friday afternoon when he flew in to the region from Dublin to complete the terms on a move to the north-east.
Having been released by Huddersfield Town at the end of last term, Carroll went back to his native Ireland to consider his options – but it wasn’t long before he decided Pools was the place for him.
“I’m delighted to be here; I’ve been keen to come and I’m pleased to get it all sorted now,” said Carroll in an exclusive interview with Pools Player.
“I’ve been asking around about the Club and about Ronnie Moore and everything that people told me was good – it was mainly that the Club shouldn’t have been in the position they were in last year.
“I’ve heard great stuff about Ronnie too; he obviously did a great job here last season so everything I’ve heard has been very positive.
“The big thing about coming here was that I felt wanted. I felt like I was near the top of the gaffer’s list to come here so as long as you feel that from a manager then you will want to come and sign.
“He told me he has been watching me for a while and that he was desperate for me to come to Hartlepool – he thinks I can do well here and if I work hard I think I can too.
“I’m really excited to get back in to it now – six weeks off is plenty for me, I just want to get back in training and back to playing football.”
