Ronnie Moore has demanded that his players give something back to the fans this weekend after admitting he’s been astonished by the levels of support Pools have enjoyed in recent weeks.
The Pools boss is still waiting for his first win since taking the hotseat last month but saw reasons for encouragement despite last week’s defeat at table-topping Wycombe Wanderers.
Now Moore is encouraging his troops to build on that improvement when Cheltenham Town arrive at Victoria Park on Saturday but has warned that they will need to be on top of their game.
“I felt like there was a lot of promise in last week’s performance and now we need to carry that on against Cheltenham,” Moore told Pools Player.
“It won’t be easy but there are no easy games at this level; they’ll be happy with their win at Oxford but I can’t wait for our win because it’s been a long time coming so hopefully it can be Saturday.
“We’ve got to lift the crowd; we want the players to light to blue touch paper and get them going because the support we’ve had has been unbelievable really.
“I’ve never known a crowd like it to be fair, especially when you look at the position we’re in – 4,000 have come in the last two home games and you’re thinking ‘come on, let’s give them something’.
“I’m so looking forward to the game and at this level one win can become four wins in no time and if we put the effort in we’ll win more games than we lose.”
