Ronnie Moore insisted his side can claw themselves off the foot of the League Two table if they continue to show the desire that was on display in their 2-0 win over Cheltenham Town.
The Pools boss was thrilled to secure his first win since taking charge at Victoria Park, thanks to goals from Scott Fenwick and Rakish Bingham along with a first clean sheet in fifteen league games.
“Nobody can dispute that we deserved to win the game,” Moore told Pools Player.
“It would have been nice to have had three or four goals but I think we’re getting greedy; we needed the clean sheet, that was a big thing, and there were some excellent performances.
“The two centre-halves did well, the two midfielders did really well in there and the two lads up top were a threat – and when you have that and two wingers with decent ability it gives you a chance.
“The big thing, for me, was the desire – that’s the first time we’ve seen then chasing and running about, really wanting to win the game and the crowd got right behind them again.
“That feeling when you win is unbelievable and when you come off and results have gone for us so instead of ten points behind it’s back to single figures which gives you a little bit of hope and belief.
“If I can get that response from them week in and week out then we can close that seven-point gap, no problems.”
