Scott Fenwick fired his second goal for the Club in Saturday’s crucial win over Cheltenham Town and then revealed that his desire to prove himself was behind his all-action performance.
The front man joined the Club from non-league Dunston at the start of November and enjoyed a dream start when he scored on his full debut against York City two weeks later.
However, he’s struggled to hold down a regular starting spot since then so was determined to take his chance at the weekend and show any doubters that he’s up to playing in league football.
“I knew I had to take my chance today; I’ve had a bit of a rollicking this week and I just wanted to make sure I improved,” Fenwick told Pools Player.
“I had a point to prove today, to prove a lot of people wrong. I know I’ve come from the non-league but I had a decent game against York and have been in and out since then so I just wanted to turn up today and prove that I’m good enough to play at this level.
“That’s the one I’ve been waiting for, that’s the first win since I came to the Club and it’s a much better feeling on a Saturday night when we are going away with the three points.
“The clean sheet makes it even better and the goal from myself on a personal note is what I wanted.
“If every player puts in a shift with that fight and aggression we showed on Saturday then teams coming here will be scared of us and we’ll not lose many games.”
