Ronnie Moore has called on his players to kick-start their season when they make the trip to rivals Tranmere Rovers on Saturday.
As a former boss of the Prenton Park side, Moore is more determined than ever to mastermind a victory this weekend and has demanded a more complete performance from his team.
Last Saturday he saw Pools produce an encouraging attacking display at high-flying Shrewsbury Town only to revert to old habits after the break which led to a 3-0 defeat.
Now he wants the players to take the positives from that first half performance in to a game which he believes can be a turning point in the Club’s season on Saturday.
“When I first came to the Club I looked at the fixtures and this was one that I was certainly looking forward to – I really wish I could play in it, to be honest," Moore told Pools Player.
“I am excited about it and I just hope we can go there and perform like we did in the first half against Shrewsbury but carry it on for 70 or 80 minutes instead of just 45.
“I haven’t got a point to prove there; I hope the crowd are decent because I would like to think they know the blood, sweat and tears I shed over a lot of years that I put in to the club.
“It was so sad the way that it all ended there but it would be nice to go back and get a result – if there’s ever a game I want us to win then this is it, for personal reasons and for trying to close that gap at the bottom.
“Our season can start at Tranmere – that’s what we’ve got to do. Let’s kick-on at Tranmere and then go in to Plymouth the following week and get back-to-back wins.”
