Moore Looks For Response From Players

2 January 2015

Ronnie Moore is backing his players to respond in a positive manner this weekend when they return to action for the first time in 2015 at Wycombe Wanderers.

The Pools boss had strong words for the squad after seeing them beaten 2-0 by Morecambe at Victoria Park last week – a defeat which saw them extend their winless run to eight games.

However, Moore has been working hard both on the training ground and in the transfer market this week and he’s hoping to see the results of both on the pitch at Adams Park on Saturday.

Wanderers are buoyant having emerged as one of League Two’s surprise packages this term; they’ve tasted defeat just three times and lie second in the table so Moore knows that Pools face a big challenge.

“It’s a massive game, the biggest once we’ve had since I’ve been here,” he told Pools Player.

“It’s not going to be easy but they aren’t unbeatable and they’re not Real Madrid.

“We’re playing Wycombe who are in our division; they are a good side who have plenty of pace so we have to be organised and make sure we don’t give them anything early on.

“I hope after our chat the players respond in the way we want them to, with effort and commitment – that’s not an added extra, you’re a professional footballer and we expect it and so does the crowd.

“The support since I have been at the Club has been absolutely fantastic and all they want to see is effort and commitment so let’s roll our sleeves up and get stuck in on Saturday.”
