It Was An Improvement Insists Moore

3 January 2015

Ronnie Moore admitted he is desperate to get a first win under his belt as Pools boss but praised his new-look side for a battling performance in defeat at Wycombe Wanderers.

Moore was frustrated with the goal the team conceded but insisted that the display was a step in the right direction and something to work on when they get back on the training ground next week.

“I thought it was better; there was a lot more commitment in there,” Moore told Pools Player.

“Perhaps we got a bit lucky at times with the defending but we had three new players in there and four of the lads were struggling with flu so for me it was an improvement.

“I’m not saying we passed it all over but this is a difficult place to come because these are top of the league but we competed well.

“It would have been nice if the header had gone in at the end rather than hit the post; we didn’t create too much but I thought we defended well generally.

“I’m pleased that we are moving in the right direction but we just need that elusive first win – I can’t wait for that and neither can the players.

“There’s a bit of fight in there and if we add a couple more we’ll give ourselves a chance.”
