Ronnie Moore has admitted that Pools will be underdogs when they travel to Portsmouth this weekend but insists that his players are more than capable of getting a positive result.
Pompey sit fifth in the table but have drawn three of their last four League Two outings and the Pools boss hopes that there will be more frustration at Fratton Park on Saturday.
With the visit to the South Coast kicking-off a week when Pools will also host Salford City in the FA Cup and high-flying Plymouth Argyle at The Vic, Moore wants the players to start as they mean to go on.
“There will be 14,000 or more there on Saturday no doubt so we know it will be tough,” he told Pools PlayerHD.
“They’ve only lost one at home this season so it will be a daunting place to go and they’ll be favourites to win - but that means our lads can go there, relax and try to express themselves.
“Cooky (boss Paul Cook) has them playing – all of his teams like to play – but we’d like to think we can make it hard for them too and let them know they’re in a game.
“The crowd can be brilliant for you when you’re winning but if we can keep them quiet and have them turning on their players then it will be about how strong they are to deal with that pressure.
“It’s a massive week for us coming up and it’s so important that we start right on Saturday.”
