We Should Have Seen Game Out - Moore

29 August 2015

Ronnie Moore admitted his frustration after seeing his team twice lead against Carlisle United at The Vic only to fall to a 3-2 defeat on Saturday afternoon.

Scott Harrison fired Pools in to an early lead before Jabo Ibehre pegged them back just after the break, but Billy Paynter’s penalty twenty minutes from time looked to have won it for the hosts.

However, The Cumbrians mounted a spirited response and Tom Miller’s stunner levelled things before Ibehre’s ninth of the season saw Keith Curle’s men celebrate all three points.

“It’s so disappointing when you’ve led twice in a game to come away with nothing,” Moore told Pools PlayerHD.

“Every time we got at them we looked like we were going to score – but I think the same applies to them because it could have been 5-5 with all the chances.

“We gave away too many throw-ins, corners and free-kicks which we knew were going to be their strength and we didn’t win our first headers – and if you don’t win first headers you’re going to be in trouble.

“Once we got the penalty and got our noses in front 2-1 it doesn’t matter who you are, you just have to do it right, see the game out and be professional.

“The goals we conceded were farcical really; it reminded me of when I first came to the Club when we were giving opposition goals and nobody had to work from them.

“I thought we were soft-centred back then but today was as soft-centred as we’ve ever been, I think.”
