Ronnie Moore’s planning for the future began in earnest on Thursday afternoon when both Kieran Green and Connor Smith agreed terms on professional deals with the Club.
The youngsters were at Victoria Park to sign the paperwork on their first Pools contracts and they will officially become professionals with the Club on 1st July.
Now 18, Green has been with Pools since Under-15 level and made an impact with the First Team after travelling with the senior squad to Spain in pre-season.
The battling and whole-hearted midfielder went on to make his First Team debut when Pools played host to Sheffield United in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in October.
Smith, who can operate on the wing or up front, has also already tasted First Team action after his direct running and positive play earned him a senior debut as a late substitute in the same Sheffield United fixture.
The 17-year-old went on to make his full First Team debut in the game at Bury in February and has been a regular in the matchday squad ever since, making nine appearances in total.
“They’re both good players and, importantly, they both have fantastic attitudes,” explained boss Moore.
“We’ve told them that they’ve worked hard to earn the reward of a professional contract but now they have to work even harder to continue their development with the First Team.
“They’re both exciting prospects, there’s no doubt about that, and if they keep on listening to the advice they’re given then we’re confident they can become important players for this Club.”
