Colin Cooper was content to see his side build on last week’s win by taking a hard-earned point against Tranmere Rovers at Victoria Park on Saturday.
The Pools boss admitted that he would have loved to have been celebrating all three points from the game but accepted that the players didn’t produce the same kind of cutting edge as they did against Shrewsbury seven days ago.
“I’m satisfied in that we backed up last week with something to get ourselves two clean sheets and four points,” Cooper told Pools Player.
“It looked as though it was a bit of a toil at time and some of the players admitted it had been, and maybe it was for both teams.
“We didn’t get the early goal like we did last week and the longer that goes on I think maybe there is some anxiety creeping in and the quality in the final third probably wasn’t there.
“I think you have to accept that not everyone can fire on all cylinders every game but everyone did their jobs for the team and we created one or two bits and pieces without carving out real opportunities.
“We have to give the players a pat on the back for the clean sheet – three points would have been brilliant because there was a good feeling about the Club before the game but we haven’t quite managed it today.”
