National Citizen Service Is Big Hit

15 September 2014

Your chance to sign up for our next NCS scheme this autumn.

Thirty Eight young people have benefitted from taking part in our recent National Citizen Service scheme. The national personal development programme, which is a real once in a life time experience, enables young people to find direction, independence, leadership, organisation skills.

It enables young people from different back grounds to mix and socialise with people they have never met before and gain new friends for life.

*The NCS young people went out into the community completing surveys and community charity visits to a wide variety of different groups to give them an idea of what were the important issues of the local community. After group consultation the young people organised two fundraising events:

*At the Hartlepool Rovers they organised raffles, face painting, hair braiding, speed cage, target shooting, cake stalls, barbeque, carnival rides, bouncy castle and demonstration from the Hawks Cheer Leading Group.

*An ‘open mic night’ was organised at the Corporation Club including buffet and raffle prizes, the night was a great success with live bands and singers  performing through the night; Gnome Invasion, Nick Dixon from the Voice, The Docks, Danielle Parner, Alicia Watson and Ian Harrison.

Altogether the Hartlepool United NCS Group raised £1,620.40 which is to be distributed between three local charities:

*Hartlepool Young Carers who help look after disabled members of their family
*Zoe’s Place Hospice which provides a wonderful ‘home from home’ environment for babies and infants from birth to five years of age
*The Children in Care Council which provides events for people in care and brings families together, they also recruit new foster carers. or email 01429 862595If you would like to register for our Autumn programme there are 15 places available for 16-17 year-olds, starting on 24th October, please contact HUCSF on
