Colin Cooper has told his players they must find some consistency as they welcome Portsmouth to Victoria Park this weekend for the first of three successive home games.
A good week on home soil in which Pools took four points and kept two clean sheets against sides just relegated from the league above was quickly forgotten among two disappointing defeats on the road.
And Cooper admits that it is frustrating to see such a wide gap in performance levels from one week to the next and is determined to find a solution to the problem.
“All we want to do is try and get some momentum and consistency,” Cooper told Pools Player.
“We can’t have the highs of the Shrewsbury game and then the lows of Northampton because that will give us a season that will just do everyone’s head.
“We have to attack the game, go and express ourselves but make sure we keep the back door locked, and hopefully we can go and create some chances and get our fans up and right behind us.
“We have three exciting home games coming up but the most important one now is Saturday; they’ve started the season well and have a strong team with plenty of quality.
“We know that means we’ll be in for a tough test but it’s one we’re more than up to, and hopefully the fans can cheer us on to the three points.”
