Pools Youth Team got back to winning ways with a 3-1 victory at Grimsby Town on Saturday.
A Dylan Armstrong hat-trick sealed victory for John Hewitson’s side a run of four successive defeats.
Pools looked more solid in the game, limiting Grimsby Town to long, direct balls which allowed Pools more space and possession.
There were first-half chances for Blackford and Wood but neither could convert and it was Grimsby who countered to take the lead going into the break.
Pools upped their tempo in the second half and started to play with more quality going forward and this approach worked when Blackford crossed in and Armstrong hit his first to make it 1-1.
Buoyed by the equaliser, Pools looked much brighter and when Jordan Jewson was tripped inside the area, Armstrong stepped up to fire home the spotkick to give his side the lead.
Blackford sent a lovely cross across the face of goal for the arriving Armstrong who fired home for his hattrick.
“We showed good character to come from behind to get the win today,” Hewitson told hartlepoolunited.co.uk.
“The lads showed a real togetherness and it was good to get back to winning ways and this is something we’ll be looking to build on.”
