We Need To Do Basics Better – Collins

18 October 2014

Sam Collins felt his side were punished for lapses in concentration as they fell to a 2-1 defeat to Luton Town at Victoria Park on Saturday.

The Hatters enjoyed their fifth successive League Two win at Pools’ expense but Collins was adamant that his players could have prevented both of the visitors’ goals.

“I think I probably feel a bit hard done by overall,” he toldPools Player.

“We didn’t play as well as we did last week but there was nothing in it really, though I did think we should have had a penalty in the first half and if we’d got that then it could have been a different game.

“The two goals we gave away were poor as far as we’re concerned; I’ve just been drumming in to the lads that we have to do the basics much better and stay in the game.

“There’s nothing we can about that now so we just rest, recover and start preparing for Tuesday because that’s another big game.”
